ABOUT US

Alta Bering is a business analytics and management consultancy company, specializing in performance management and performance data. We have a native advanced analytics platform called EPO (Enterprise Performance Optimizer). To support our customers and analytics, we are developing an advanced data marketplace.
We crawl hundreds of websites for product, price, performance and location data using our web scraper. We extract, sanitize and store the data in a single database.
We’re a small, close-knit team dedicated to each other and our vision of deriving insights from data. Our culture is centered around problem solving through teamwork. We are looking for new team members in our Istanbul office.

The qualified candidate will be able to: 

Think critically, communicate clearly, pay attention to process and quality, take initiative, and excel in a small team environment.
You are expected to follow agile development principles adopted by the Alta Bering team.

Your Responsibilities include:

•      Write reusable, testable, and efficient code
•      Design and implement low-latency, high-availability Restful API endpoints
•      Develop and improve current data scraping framework
•      Perform unit tests, hunt and debug data errors
•      Create technical documentations for reference and reporting

Minimum requirements:

•      Proficient in Python or another popular object-oriented language
•      Expert web application development in Python using various frameworks
•      Strong knowledge of HTML/CSS selectors, regex
•      Proficient in automated test and documentation processes with CI/CD
•      Good knowledge of Docker and Linux, ideally in a working environment setting
•      Experience in developing applications with MySQL, PostgreSQL and NoSQL data stores
•      Good knowledge of Git/Gerrit, Jenkins, understanding of branching techniques and best practices.
•      Proficient in communicating and presenting in English

Other qualifications:

•      A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math
•      Demonstrated commitment to optimization and accountability in prior code and/or projects
•      Experience in developing web scrapers is a plus
•      Familiarity with data science methods is a plus
